So if you've been by the blog before, you have likely seen me post about my novel, The Town That Drowned. Well, in the incredibly-exciting-and-almost-unbelievable-but-true category of things going on in my life, the novel just won the regional 2012 Commonwealth Book Prize for Canada and Europe. (That's me in the middle above. Click the pic for more info)

I have had a lot of book excitement lately (even more info here) I was also in Newfoundland last week for the Atlantic Book Awards and took a lot of fabulous pictures that I will hopefully share eventually.

In quilting news, I will be going to the Canadian Quilters' Association National Juried Show in Halifax next weekend. I am excited to see my quilt, The Selvage Mummy, hanging in the show. Unfortunately, the only time photos are allowed at the juried show is right after the awards when quilters who had entries juried in can pose with their own quilt and I will not be there then. General photography is not allowed. Oh well.

So, I'll be back eventually. Happy Quilting! And please, please if you are at the National Juried Show and see me, grab me and say 'Hi'. I would love, love to meet more quilters.

That is so awesome! I've had your book on request from the library for what seemed like forever. Finally got my turn and picked it up yesterday. I'm about 1/3 through and I love it. You deserve the award! Added bonus that it reminds me of summers spent with my grandparents in NB.
I'm one of your quiet visitors, always around but never saying much. However, your news is so terrific that I had to break my silence and send you a huge shout-out from California. I'll be looking around for that title too.
I heard about the award on the news this morning and was very excited for you! Ii recommend the book to everyone!

This is such exciting news!! You must be over the moon, congratulations! I have to get my hands on your book - it is on my summer reading list!!!
Congratulations on your award. I've had a copy of the Town That Drowned in my 5th grade classroom and it's been passed around until the cover nearly came off. I mended it and it is still being read! They've been enjoying it.
WOW!! Congratulations! Must go order your book now...
I just read the first few pages on Amazon and am hooked! YOU are a terrific writer! I'm ordering the book so I can read it on my upcoming trip "home" to Canada in early June. Can't wait.
Best of luck, and congratulations on your recognition!
Congrats on the award!! That is really fantastic. They don't give those to just anyone, you know... :-)
Congrats on the award!!! Doesn't surprise me, though, as I've read the book. Which is FABULOUS!!
