I have very few unfinished projects stashed away, but these string squares are one of them.
I made these very early on in my quilting and blogging days. I probably had only about ten blog visitors a day whenever I first showed them. And I will say now, looking at them, that I have since slightly finessed my fabric choices. I still like brights, but I think I have stepped away from the gaudy which is a good thing. (Case in point, look at that yellow (!) and the purple hexies (!) )
I have 48 squares which each finish at 12 inches. So, a whole quilt top just waiting ... they only need to be arranged. As above?
Or maybe this? We'll see. But it will be finished (and hopefully sooner rather than later).

Will be a cute top either way you choose to lay it out. How fun you almost have a finished top! :D
Both layouts are fun! I like the colors and mix... Such happy colors. How's the weather over your way?
Pretty!! There is a scrappy string quilt in my future, I know. :)
Hi Riel! I love your colourful blocks! Red was not 'my colour' but lately it appears more often in my works. Still I think that your quilt is going to be wonderful with all those different reds and pinks and those yellows and purples fit really well! I like your second layout!

fun blocks. would you consider posting a picture and a link back to your blog over at our group string blog, stringthingalong.blogspot.com? I can send you an invitation to be an author if you like. I'd love for you to share this with other string-ers.
I can't believe how far you have come in your quilting in such a short time. But even your early stuff was very nicely done, these blocks look terrific!
Happy Sewing :0)
As a registered hexie-aholic I particularly like that hexie fabric! I think Moda is coming out with a new line of hexie fabric this year. wootwoot!
I like the first setting...I think it sets off the pink thru the center of each block.
I love string blocks. Either layout will be fun, but I'm kinda liking the chevron!
I love the first layout of blocks! I also wanted to say I requested your book for Christmas and finished it the other day and I absolutely loved it!!!

So many possibilities!
Zig Zag is quite popular now, but I like the squares better. Which ever you choose it will make a wonderful child's quilt. I love your fabric choices, and the little purple hexie goes just right with this bunch. (I've learned that the "right" fabric for some part of a quilt might not be something you particularly like, but just right for the quilt.)
Hugs!
These are fantastic! I'm sure they'll look great any way you arrange them.
Whoa! They certainly are pink (I was thinking baby pink till I saw the photos)! Lovely blocks.
The chevon pattern I think, but both layouts are good. Have fun!
Thanks so much everyone. Big SNOW DAY here today, so I may have a look at these blocks later ... although my selvages are calling to me too.
Tamara: I am so glad you enjoyed the book! Thanks so much!
I love your blocks and think the colours are fabulous! Your alternative layout is interesting. Look forward to seeing which design you choose.
I love the bright colors in these blocks

Ooo, I really like how you have that same narrow strip down the middle of each! It really serves to unify and bring out the color as well! Gorgeous blocks!
I wish I had a UFO lying around that was that close to being done!
